A MESSAGE FROM OUR VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

Jared Kutney

I applied for an internship with Federal in 2003 when I was finishing my undergraduate degrees at the University of Minnesota. I was hired as an intern in the R&D department, but my internship experience and undergraduate studies were interrupted by a year and a half deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the fall of 2003. Federal held an internship opportunity for me and when I returned in 2005, I picked up where I left off.

After graduation and working a brief stint at a firetruck manufacturing company, I was hired full-time at Federal as an R&D Engineer in February of 2008. I’ve had great opportunities to learn, contribute, and lead in my career at Federal. After a few years of engineering work, I was asked to lead some of the R&D team which earned me a position as the Director of Product Engineering for Federal and Speer.

After a strategic acquisition of Remington Ammunition, I led the Remington Engineering teams as Sr. Director of Engineering for more than 2 years before I was asked to take on the role of Sr. Director of Operations in Anoka and Sweet Home, Oregon. This was a significant change of direction in my career, and I enjoyed the fast-paced environment of operations along with tackling some of our big internal and external challenges.

At the start of 2025, I was honored to accept the position of VP of Operations for all locations. It is humbling and rewarding to lead such a great team of folks who have expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to our brands and products.

Reflecting on my journey, I’m grateful for the internship that was given – then held – for me by the team at Federal. I’ve enjoyed evolving through my roles and assisting others with their journeys, as well. I’m excited to continue growing and contributing to the success of The Kinetic Group as we take on new challenges ahead!

Does TKG offer Housing Stipends?

No, we do not offer housing stipends, however, we can provide you a list of housing resources within the area

What are the eligibility criteria for an internship?

Our internship program is open to students currently enrolled in a degree or recent graduates. Specific requirements may vary depending on location

Is this a paid internship?

Yes, all of our internships are paid

Is this internship eligible for benefits such as healthcare or more?

No, this is not a benefit eligible position. However, we do offer a wide range of benefits if offer a full-time regular position

When does your intern season start and end?

We can take interns at any time of year if a business need is requested; however, our standard internship program has a duration of 10-12 weeks anywhere from May-September dependent on the department and your availability

Is there an opportunity for full-time employment after the internship?

Many of our interns have received full-time offers upon completion of their internship, based on the business needs
