Federal Ammunition recently sponsored the 2025 Ducks Unlimited University Mentored Hunt in central North Dakota, helping introduce eight college students to waterfowl hunting.

Despite challenging weather, steady rain, 35 mph winds, and chilly temps, the students from University of North Dakota, University of Mary, and Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College embraced the experience with enthusiasm and resilience.

Most of the participants were new to firearms and hunting. Over two days, students learned firearm safety, practiced trap shooting, explored duck hunting techniques, and participated in their first duck hunt. They carried decoys, set up blinds, called ducks, and processed their harvest—all while enduring the elements with smiles and determination.

“I can’t believe I just shot a gun,” one student shared. “I’ve always been afraid of firearms, but I came to this event to learn respect for the gun. To learn how to hunt and not be in fear.”

Federal’s contribution of high-quality ammunition played a key role in the success of the hunt. The ammo performed flawlessly, helping these new hunters gain confidence and make lasting memories.
